Within the context of diverse colourful panorama of the Lithuanian painting, Igoris Piekuras, Honoured Art Figure of Lithuania, the winner of the YCL prize, is one of the most active artists. His creation is significant both for its life-supporting content and innovatory form.
Igoris Piekuras was born in Minsk (Belarus) on 19 April 1935. In 1952, he graduated from Vilnius I. Chernyakhovsky Secondary School. His first teacher of art was B. Motuza. In 1953, Igoris Piekuras embarked on his studies of painting at Vilnius Institute of Fine Arts. He was taught by A. Gudaitis, V. Karatajus, K. Morkunas and others.
